maia travel: palm springs
Turning 40 has come and gone. If I had to give it a rating, I’d say it was a 25 out of 10 stars. As per the recommendation of several friends who turned 40 before me, I planned a week away to ring in the new decade. I found a beautiful AirBnb in Palm Springs, booked it, and invited some close girlfriends. It was a perfect week, and I’ve yet to go a day where someone doesn’t text me “can we please go back?” so I’ll go ahead and take that as a win. Dressing the Palm Springs vibe was also a highlight for this pastel-loving gal.
I absolutely love planning trips, especially when they are for others and as usual, I love building an experience. Here are some of the highlights of our trip in Palm Springs, places and experiences I would highly recommend:
Dining
Dining: We ate at some incredible restaurants. Some favorites however were Workshop Kitchen + Bar, Azucar, and the absolute cutest brunch spot The Pink Cabana.
Exercise
I’ve been working on not completely falling off the tracks when I go on vacation as far as my health goes. I’d say it currently has an approximate 70% success rate, but better than the previous 0% success rate. I knew I’d want to move daily, and I knew some of my friends would also want to, and others would tolerate it. ha! I was incredibly lucky to find Lauren Cowart Yoga, and Splash Gary Water Aerobics. Yoga was rejuvenating (as needed in the mornings) and water aerobics was so much fun.
Entertainment
While I’m lucky most of my friends are entertainment enough, I wanted to make sure to plan some special activities for everyone. There are two things my friends and I fully agree on, and it’s Karaoke and poolside cocktails. I made sure to include both in the agenda. We somehow found the magical Jeffrey the Bartender who brought our afternoon of cocktails and a beautiful pool dreams come true, and all with zero tiny humans asking us to find their goggles. It was the most perfect afternoon and one I’ll never forget. My best gals, poolside cocktails, and everyone in pink swimsuits and a beautiful pool with incredible views. Do over please!
We decided to do karaoke one night because, why not? We spent a night after dinner at The Retro Room. The perfect dive bar karaoke bar. It was packed and we had a blast. My go to song is an oldie but goodie, Black Velvet.
What would a trip be without trying to get to the nearest National Park. I had yet to get my Joshua Tree stamp, and knew it would be special to do so the week of my 40th. On the final day in Palm Springs, we rented a car and road tripped to the park. My love for the National Parks is never ending, sharing it with friends made it even better.
