One of my new year’s resolutions was to read more books. Last year my friend Christine introduced me to Audible and I loved having the ability to take in a lot of books while still on the go. She listens to books while running, which has never, and will never work for me as I’m more of a Pitbull screaming in my ears as a necessity kind of runner. However, in many other scenarios, I love to pop in my headphones and clean the house, fold the laundry, or do the other glamorous things I spend my life doing. Today I’m sharing some of my favorite business books I’ve read so far this year, as well as my favorite reading accessories. I’d love to hear about other business books you’ve read and enjoyed, I can’t get enough. Tell me here on my Instagram. As always, outfit details can be found by following my LTK.

Nearly finishing this book currently, it’s been an absolute game changer in my learning how to better lead. I started my company when I was 28 and clearly wasn’t at a place in life I was fully prepared to grow and lead an entire team. I’ve worked really hard over the years to grow in leadership and find my style. This book has been instrumental this year in helping to push me further and I’m already seeing the changes in myself and the team as a result. I can not recommend it enough if you lead people.

Do Lead: A short read but has a strong message. Every team member who starts at Happy Medium receives a copy of this book because we believe so heavily in its content. Les McKeown has always inspired me as a CEO and this book is no exception.

I was a bit late to the game reading this book. Never late to a party though, it was my first read of the year and I’ve implemented so many pieces of it into both my personal and professional life. For our company this book is especially helpful when you have a small but mighty team. Tasks can seem never ending because you’re expected to do both operational tasks as well as implementing. Taking the bite size approach outlined in this book is a huge help in strategy and balance.

Brig and I both have one of these book lights, I love it because it’s a warm light so it works to use in the early morning or late night but doesn’t mess with my sleep cycles. It’s also rechargeable so a win for team earth, not to mention I don’t have to constantly figure out where one buys those tiny round batteries.
